NOTD 20 april

This is from the "Show your feet" collection of Essence. these polishes can of course be used for hands as well, it's just they have antibacteric inside. the color is no.1 Carribean Sea. I have to say I am still not 100% sure I like the color. it's definetly bright and gets noticed a lot, which is nice. but there is something ...banal about it. I mean, it's an average blue nail polish, nothing special. I feel it would be more for a younger girl maybe... BUT I love the nail polish itself! super easy to apply, this is just one coat as it is made to give great coverage with just a thin layer of product. it works! I am planning to buy more colors, there is for sure a yellow and a purple which I really want to try.

products I regret buying - april 2010

I've been neglecting this blog too much lately so I will try to write and follow a bit more in the next months...I took inspiration for this post from a makeup I did a yesterday with a combination of "no" products that I want to talk about...

Starting from recent shopping, a couple of weeks ago I bought this mascara from Essence, called hypno gloss. I have to admit I have a big crush on Essence products at the moment. I think they are the best low-price products I can find around, and absolutely perfect for everyday makeup. I have a little bit of everything, from foundation to nail polish, from eye pencils to bronzers. so, I was supercurious about their mascaras, and although I had already a few other to finish, I bought a new one, just to see how it was...but there were so many, so it actually hard to pick one, and I decided not to check reviews....WRONG choice! I was of course attracted by the packaging, and the "gloss" word referred to a mascara...wow, glossy eyelashes??? hypnotic eyes??? I didn't pay any attention to the other mascaras and just grabbed this one.
mmm....volume, lenght, gloss....no, none of this. I still don't get what this mascara actually does. there is no lenght or volume added, and no gloss at all. it barely shows up after two applications...it's like I do not wear mascara at all! I was pretty shocked the first time I tried it, actually. I also don't like to add so many layers of mascara on my eyelashes so I will basically stick with 2 coats and accept the fact that my look will be...errr...natural.

second wrong (but older) choice were the eyeko eyeshadow tins. I love eyeko, I wear some of their products basically every day! I have the 3in1 cream, which is one of my fave all-times-fave. I use their nailpolishes, and also fat balms are one of my must-have...but the eyeshadows...oh-oh.
I bought the first one, pretty eyes (the more pink/lilac one), on the eyeko website. later I discovered that there were two other variations and ordered the cool eyes (blue/smokey eyes colors) on another website, spending a ridiculously high price for it... oh no. I wish I had waited to try the pretty eyes first.
these eyeshadows are great to see, but unfortunately not pigmented at all! the colors in the tin are bright, shimmery, super nice. then you apply it...and where is it? no trace at all. you need to pack so much product to actually see any pigment on your eyelids!
and, second, it doesn't last. I applied it around 11 in the morning with a primer underneath, and around five in the afternoon it looked like I had no makeup at all. it was not just faded...I disappeared!! well. except for the crease of course. there was a tiny little bit there. sob.
I hope to get some feedback about it because I am supercurious about other experiences with these two products!
