my first homemade lip balm!

Lately I've been reading a lot about homemade beauty products and decided to start from the easiest recipe...lip balm!
I've been looking here and there for recipes and in the end adapted a bit what I found around, mostly trying not to buy a hundred ingredients but trying to make the most out of what I had already.
this is the recipe I used:

- 1 1/2 teaspoon of beeswax
- 2 teaspoons cocoa butter
- 3 teaspoons coconut oil
- 2 1/2 spoons of honey
- a few drops of vanilla flavour (for cakes)

I already had cononut oil, honey and vanilla flavour at home so I only bought the wax and the cocoa butter on ebay. it was extremely cheap and they will last for so many lip balms... I think at least 50 if only use them for lip balms.
the recipe said I had to wait for one day before I could check if the balm was ready, but mine actually was ready after less than one hour....maybe I did something wrong? anyway, the balm is amazing, it has a lovely smell of honey (you don't really taste vanilla, it's just slightly sweet and lost a bit the wax aroma).
I think I am going to refill every old lip balm tube that I finished! the balm is really creamy so I think I will go through it like crazy, I love applying it!

Project 10 Pan failed :((((

I just managed to finish the fifth item from Project 10 Pan (a melon lipbalm from LaVita) when my local drugstore put almost all the items by Essence at 50% discount AND they made a 3x2 offer....
the result? I spent around 20€ and I came back home with:
- 5 quad eyeshadows
- 1 nailpolish
- 1 powder
- 1 blush
- 4 mono eyeshadow
- 2 mascaras (as if I needed more...)
- 4 lipsticks
- 2 pencil lipbalms

for the first time in my life someone told me: please, you have to choose one more makeup item! it's for free...you HAVE TO!
to make matters worse, after that I placed a BIG eyeko order...
so, Project 10 Pan should start from the beginning again!
I am terrible!!!!!!

my summer favourites

some products I (re)discovered and I am using almost daily....

from top to bottom:
eyeko 3 in 1 cream (I absolutely love this!)
essence mono eyeshadow, col. 07 "love talk" (lovely color for a natural look)
liquid smackers, strawberry (rediscovered this in my beautycase, so yummy and nice on lips!)
eyeko, vintage polish (nothing to say about this, I guess...)
essence eye color booster mascara, col. 02 showtime (the color is not that visible but the mascara gives lenght and definition, and makes eyes appear brighter!)
essence pen eyeliner, collection "return to paradise", 01 jungle drum (also one of my daily additions, with Love Talk, lovely color and great lasting!!)
essence long lasting eye pencil, col. 10 almost famous (peachy color which makes eyes super bright!)
kruidvat pure and natural for sensitive skin, cleansing lotion and day cream (I just discovered that Kruidvat, my local drugstore, just released a whole range of natural products, with certified quality. it feels so comfortable on the skin, and smells fresh and natural! love it!)

and a couple of details....
we all know this little lovely thing....but I recently rediscovered it especially as an eyeshadow base, and it's becoming my daily base for makeup. it just works! the eyeshadow stays in place until night, and the cream gives to every eyeshadow a nice extra shimmer. I also use it everyday on my cheekbones for some nice glow. there is a LOT of product in there, though! so I think it will last really long.
the second detail is from the eyeshadow. I love this color! this is my everyday look when I do not have anything special to do and I want a natural - almost invisible but still super healthy and glow look.

updates about me

for some reason, I find it easier to make new year's resolutions in august rather than in january. that's why I started a whole new kind of life lately. first of all I am changing a bit my eating habits and eating healthier food. since I moved to the Netherlands I started eating really bad (lots of snacks for example...) because I was moving a lot going by bike and this avoided me to gain weight... BUT last winter was so long and cold that I didn't have as many chances to go by bike as last year, and unfortunately I gained some weight (my metabolism sucks). second, I started excercising at home in the morning. it's so good when your muscles hurt in places that you had no clue it could hurt! hopefully this will give me new inputs to start autumn with more energies and fun. oh! and today I had my first green monster, thanks to Becky (beckyeyes.blogspot.com) and it just tasted delicious. thanks!!!!

favourite lip product - summer 2010

some weeks ago I came across a review of this lipglosses by Essence and decided to give them a try. they used to be in one of the special collections (Fashionista I think) but then they became part of the regular range of Essence products.
I am not really a lipgloss girl, I am more into lipbalms, but they looked so great that I decided to purchase them anyway (and my local drugstore had a 3x2 offer on Essence...this was just a SIGN!!)
I could not decide between the colors so I purchased 3 pieces, and I am SO happy I did!!!
here they are:
I just LOVE THEM! ok, the volume is not really anything to write home about, but I have to say I don't need volume so that's just perfect for me. the colors are quite subtle as you see, just a hint.
the yellow looks actually a bit golden on lips, but they just give tons of gloss + a little hint of color.
the smell is yummy! the yellow one is some sort of lemon/pineapple/tropical/fresh smell. the pink one is bubblegum, and the orange is fruity. Plus, they contain menthol so the smell is mixed with some superfresh minty smell. they feel relly fresh on lips and the last is pretty good.
Price: 1.99€ (in the NL - might be slightly higher or lower in other countries)
basically I payed 3.98€ to have three of them!! yay! love them so much I could consider buying more to keep in storage...as soon as Project10Pan is over.

Similar Addiction Giveaway

Almost too beautiful to be true!!!!
go check it out!!

Project 10 Pan -6 !!!

First update about my Project 10PAN - so I can throw away/reuse the packagings immediately :)
First 4 products gone!
The bottle is from a Cleansing Milk + Toner from Yves Rocher. It's super fresh and I love to use it before I go to sleep because it leaves my skin really clean and healty. I liked it a lot, I just forgot it a bit because I bought new stuff, but I would definetly repurchase it.
Leocrema LipBalm in Milk+Mint: not so mosturizing unfortunately, but super fresh and minty on lips! I just loved applying and re-applying because of the lovely effect, but so far I did not notice any improvement of my lips
Yves Rocher Almond LipBalm: I love these lipbalms by YR! I have lots of them in all the flavours, but probably the almond is my favourite. really rich, super mosturizing and lasts really long. makes my lips feel soft and nice even in winter and with a lot of wind! I'll definetly buy more and more!!
Catrice All Around Concealer Beige: this concealers' palette is lovely and really creamy. they have a good coverage and pretty good last. it's a pity that of course you don't really use all of them. now I am trying to mix the light and the darker color to keep using them. the palette also has a pink and a green.
So, this is what I have done so far!!

Ecco i primi 4 prodotti finiti!

Posh Polish by Eyeko

oooooooh my god! I love this nail polish!! maybe it's not super-suitable for summer but who cares, it's just SO beautiful! it's elegant and lovely and creamy! I am officially in love. and I love how easy it is to apply and how creamy the color is. and, boyfriend loves it, which is not so common!

woooow!

project 10 pan

I feel really bad lately for buying so much stuff without thinking...I have to say I always buy products in the cheap range, so it's not too much about the money I spend, but more about buying stuff which I forget soon because I buy something new... so I decided to do a round of Project 10 Pan! ohmygod I cannot believe it...although I have to say I am already starting not so bad: I have 2 lipbalms which are almost over, and one concealer...so not so terrible hopefully...

I am back...with a petite haul...

oooh I was so bad lately...but hopefully I am back and willing to write on my little blog again.... the last months unfortunately (or luckily?) were really hectic...but, fingers crossed, summer will be more relaxed and easy...and I also want to start writing my posts in two languages, because sometimes I miss writing in italian!
I received my last (small) eyeko order in the post yesterday...just 2 nail polishes that were in my wishlist for months and now are finally mine! I bet you all know them...but anyway, here they are!
Eyeko Vintage Polish (a lovely lovely jade color) and Eyeko Nude Polish. they both look super subtle elegant colors...and I can't wait to try them! ...but for the moment I am testing a nail polish by Kiko which I just bought and I want to see how long it can last (not so bad, so far, 5 days and just a minor chip!) Now I am also waiting for the Posh Polish, which was supposed to be shipped with the other two, but was not in the package. I wrote them and the problem was fixed in less than 2 hours, such an amazing customer service they have! thumbs up for Eyeko! this was my 4th order and it's always so quick and smooth...
AND! I finally found a make-up remover which removes their lovely-but-definetly-stubborn tube mascara... yeah!

NOTD 20 april

This is from the "Show your feet" collection of Essence. these polishes can of course be used for hands as well, it's just they have antibacteric inside. the color is no.1 Carribean Sea. I have to say I am still not 100% sure I like the color. it's definetly bright and gets noticed a lot, which is nice. but there is something ...banal about it. I mean, it's an average blue nail polish, nothing special. I feel it would be more for a younger girl maybe... BUT I love the nail polish itself! super easy to apply, this is just one coat as it is made to give great coverage with just a thin layer of product. it works! I am planning to buy more colors, there is for sure a yellow and a purple which I really want to try.

products I regret buying - april 2010

I've been neglecting this blog too much lately so I will try to write and follow a bit more in the next months...I took inspiration for this post from a makeup I did a yesterday with a combination of "no" products that I want to talk about...

Starting from recent shopping, a couple of weeks ago I bought this mascara from Essence, called hypno gloss. I have to admit I have a big crush on Essence products at the moment. I think they are the best low-price products I can find around, and absolutely perfect for everyday makeup. I have a little bit of everything, from foundation to nail polish, from eye pencils to bronzers. so, I was supercurious about their mascaras, and although I had already a few other to finish, I bought a new one, just to see how it was...but there were so many, so it actually hard to pick one, and I decided not to check reviews....WRONG choice! I was of course attracted by the packaging, and the "gloss" word referred to a mascara...wow, glossy eyelashes??? hypnotic eyes??? I didn't pay any attention to the other mascaras and just grabbed this one.
mmm....volume, lenght, gloss....no, none of this. I still don't get what this mascara actually does. there is no lenght or volume added, and no gloss at all. it barely shows up after two applications...it's like I do not wear mascara at all! I was pretty shocked the first time I tried it, actually. I also don't like to add so many layers of mascara on my eyelashes so I will basically stick with 2 coats and accept the fact that my look will be...errr...natural.

second wrong (but older) choice were the eyeko eyeshadow tins. I love eyeko, I wear some of their products basically every day! I have the 3in1 cream, which is one of my fave all-times-fave. I use their nailpolishes, and also fat balms are one of my must-have...but the eyeshadows...oh-oh.
I bought the first one, pretty eyes (the more pink/lilac one), on the eyeko website. later I discovered that there were two other variations and ordered the cool eyes (blue/smokey eyes colors) on another website, spending a ridiculously high price for it... oh no. I wish I had waited to try the pretty eyes first.
these eyeshadows are great to see, but unfortunately not pigmented at all! the colors in the tin are bright, shimmery, super nice. then you apply it...and where is it? no trace at all. you need to pack so much product to actually see any pigment on your eyelids!
and, second, it doesn't last. I applied it around 11 in the morning with a primer underneath, and around five in the afternoon it looked like I had no makeup at all. it was not just faded...I disappeared!! well. except for the crease of course. there was a tiny little bit there. sob.
I hope to get some feedback about it because I am supercurious about other experiences with these two products!

Sunday 21 March 2010

NOTD - 20th march

these are my nails of the day, Eyeko Pastel Polish. it's a superlight baby blu with some sheer hint in it, not too much, but not totally mat either.
I've had this for months already but I did not open it because I read on many reviews that the old Eyeko polishes easily dry because of the bottle. So I am trying not to open them all together..and it's working so far. I really like this actually! the polish is pretty liquid so you have to be careful when you apply it, but the result is superlovely!
I am really happy and I think I will use it a lot. It's just superlight and at the same time cute and discreet.
I applied one coat of base, two coats of Pastel Polish and top coat. Hope it will last! Eyeko old polishes usually last quite long, but my nails grow superfast so I like to apply them again quite often.

2 days of natural looks

I know this maybe sounds boring, but lately I am all about easy and natural looks!
and, by the way, I will do a small review to make this post less boring...
I saw a lot of bad reviews about it, but I have to say I LOVE L'oreal extra Volume Collagene Mascara!
my lashes feel so thick without being TOO thick and it's not too heave so they keep the shape after I curled them. I really like that the brush keeps the lashes so separate so you can easily coat them one by one without clumping.

why does most of the girls hate it???

I found this on Lisa Kate's blog http://sparkleismycrack.blogspot.com and since I am a bit bored today, I decided to cheer myself up with it!

1. Mood: bored and slowly but finally relaxed after some hectic days
2. A beauty product you couldn’t live without? lipbalms, they are my drug!

4. Today’s morning beverage? Ginseng coffee (so delicious!)
5. Eyes/lips/cheeks: 88 shimmer palette/vaseline rose lipbalm tin/elf studio duo blush bronzer
6. What makeup do you have in your purse right now? lots of different lip products (lipbalms and glosses)
7. The highlight of your weekend? going to Bruxelles with my boyfriend and having lots of fun - nice food, great beers, and wonderful exhibitions!

10. Weekly goals: clean the house a bit, see some movies, relax a bit

Wednesday 17 February 2010

on my wishlist

there is a few things that I am looking forward to trying...but for some weird attempt of self-discipline I am trying to limit myself a bit in buying new stuff...it's not really about the budget (some of these products I fancy are really super cheap...) but still... the first entry will be about nail polish...I always thought they are not the most important thing, but I start thinking I was totally wrong...so just to start, here you go...I love all of them, but I will try to limit myself just to a few colors...

♥ eyeko new nail polishes, in nude, lilac and vintage color. I've read/seen so many reviews about them and they are apparently much better than the old collection. I actually own all the colors from the previous collection and almost all of them work pretty well for me (apart from the pastel pink and blue, they are awful!). I guess changing the packaging was a really good choice as the old bottle had the problem of letting too much air in it and dryed the polish really quickly. I also heard they improved the formula and that they are much easier to apply. so I can't wait to buy them!

Thursday 11 February 2010

new favourite of the week!

I just started using the products I got in the second e.l.f. order I placed and I already have a new favourite!! I was quite skeptical about their little eyeshadows quads, because of the price mainly, and also for the fact that the colors are never totally true on the website. Then I saw one review on youtube by makeupdelight2009 in which she was wearing a makeup she made with one of these little palettes, and decided to give it a try... I have to say all my prejudices were wrong...I LOVE THEM! I got three of them but right now I started using just one of them, which I actually used every day since I opened the package...it's the Ivy one. the colors are really great with my eye color, and they are really pigmented. the makeup lasts almost all day long (almost...well that's my fault, I don't use a real primer, but just a base) and the colors are really nice. Now I can't wait to try the other ones!!!

Sunday 7 February 2010

one more 120 palette look...

yesterday night I was attending an artsy event and wanted really sparkly eyes...
so here's another look created with my beloved 120 palette B, plus black eyeliner and mascara (I did not curly my lashes properly, now that I see them in the pic!) I used only one coat of mascara (pump up the volume! by Avon) because my lashes are pretty long and they tend to become really dramatic with two coats...
I simply used a combination of gold, yellow and orange, institing a bit with the orange in the first half of the lid and then adding a small small amount of light gold in the very inner corner.
I am still struggling with my tendency to only make natural looks and my friends suggesting me to dare more... :)
tomorrow I am going to visit my parents and will finally put my hands on a package from e.l.f. I ordered some time ago... so stay tuned :)

rainy days

days like this require happy makeup!!

Thank you 120 palette!!
I have the B version and LOVE these shades of green. I applied the emerald green on the lid and a tiny bit of mint and neon green mixed in the inner corners.
It's nice because today it's so dark and grey that the colors look softer.
I added a little bit of black essence liner and some collagene mascara from l'oreal.

this already improved my mood. :)

First favourite of the Week!

Hema is a dutch company which produces everything you can imagine, from dog food to cute panties, and surprisingly everything is cheap but quite good. I am in love with some of their makeup items and brushes, and about the makeup I want to talk about their creamy eyeshadows, which come into big size double pencils. I already spotted some other colors combinations so I guess this will be the first purchase of a loooong list!
Anyway, these pencils are quite handy! First of all, the colors allow you to make a complete make up if you are in a rush, because the two colors match perfectly to make a natural make up. I actually use it much more as a base, than as real eyeshadows, for totally natural make up or for the ones with a twist. the eyeshadow is supercreamy on the lid and really easy to apply, and the light color looks perfect in the inner corner of the eyes as it gives them extra brightness and makes them look much wider.
The price is around 2,25€ which is really good for the amount of product you get and for the quality! maybe this won't be that useful for users outside the Netherlands, but if you plan a trip there just remember to look for the HEMA sign!!!

Welcome to my world!!!

Welcome everyone!

I thought it would be nice to give you an overview of the mess I have on my table everyday when I apply my makeup. First of all: the beautycase...I love it! I got it at Primark for 5€ and I totally adore it. it has a mirror in the upper part, and it's all covered in plastic inside so it's really easy to clean...

basically this is the make up I use everyday in the morning. I have to find a better setting because it's not so handy when I am in a rush...but my life is all temporary at the moment! I moved really often in the last year...and I will spend 8 more months in this flat and then move again, and so I haven't thought about a "real" setting for my makeup stuff. I can't wait to stay in one "real" flat for some time so I can relax a bit...

I will post more in detail my favourite products, for the moment you can have a quick look and notice I mostly have low-cost products for my daily makeup routine, but I think most of the ones I use have quite a good quality!

(I think you might already see some Essence, Eyeko, Avon, YR, Hema and Elf...)

I'll get back soon to you for my favourites!

one more girly blog!!!

Here I am, starting a blog to talk about all the fruity, glittery, sweet and nice things in life we girls enjoy...

Job and daily life will be outside the door, this blog will be my small corner for cozy moments, make up, nice food, and all the news I discover around and want to share!
But first things first: I will introduce myself! Fruity is Teresa, a 28 years old italian girl (or woman? hmm this is still not clear to me...) currently based in The Netherlands.
Loves: make-up, creativity, art, travels, sweets.
Hates: diets, waking up too early when it's still dark outside, arrogant people.

So, make yourself at home, grab a coffee or hot coco and enjoy! ♥
